I am an NYCDOE Social Studies and Technology educator. I have been teaching seventh grade Social Studies for the last two school years. Over the last two school years, I have taught both in-person and remotely due to COVID-19. For the upcoming 2021/2022 school year, I will be teaching eighth grade Technology. Eighth grade technology will be centered around learning foundational tech skills to be able to produce original content. Students will have the opportunity to select topics and issues of interest throughout the school year to practice creating a variety of forms of content…from presentations to videos to audio recordings. The skills learned in eighth grade Technology will be a spring board into high school and beyond.

In eighth grade Technology you will become an expert in the following applications:

  • Microsoft Suite

  • Google Suite

  • Apple Suite

  • Canva

  • Adobe Spark

  • iMovie

  • GarageBand

You can do it.

I understand that everyone has different skills and abilities when it comes to using technology. An important part of learning how to use technology is not being afraid of making mistakes (technology allows us to do Edit>Undo unlike real life!). Be patient with yourself and use your curiosity to fuel your learning of new applications.
